Speech Recognition Not Working
If the app isn't recognizing your speech during practice:
- Check microphone permission: Go to Settings > TelePrompt AI and ensure microphone access is enabled.
- Check speech recognition permission: The app also needs Speech Recognition permission to transcribe your voice.
- Speak clearly: Try speaking at a moderate pace and volume for best results.
- Reduce background noise: Find a quieter environment for more accurate recognition.
AI Speech Generation Issues
If you're having trouble generating speeches:
- Check your API key: If using Claude or OpenAI, verify your API key is entered correctly in Settings.
- Check your internet connection: Cloud AI features require an active internet connection.
- Try offline mode: If you don't have an API key, the app can generate basic speeches offline.
- Apple Intelligence: Requires iOS 26 or later and a compatible device.
Teleprompter Not Tracking
If the teleprompter isn't following along as you speak:
- Speak the actual words: The teleprompter tracks your progress by matching spoken words to the script.
- Don't skip ahead: Try to follow the script in order for best tracking.
- Clear pronunciation: Speak clearly so the speech recognition can match words accurately.
Practice Metrics Seem Off
If your performance metrics don't seem accurate:
- Complete the full session: Metrics are calculated when you stop the recording, not during.
- Longer sessions are more accurate: Very short practice sessions may have less reliable metrics.
- Energy detection: Energy scores are based on audio volume levels - speaking louder registers as higher energy.
